Blockchain-in-use Conference: 26.10.2020 – 30.10.2020
Since sadly this year Berlin Blockchain Week could not happen, BerChain and Berlin Partner of Economics and Technology teamed up and prepared a five-day online event series which will take place from October 26 to October 30, 2020 instead. This series will act as a replacement for our activities which were planned for the Berlin Blockchain Week. The goal of the event is to live part of the Berlin Blockchain Week spirit in a digital format and learn and exchange around different blockchain use cases that are already implemented or close to being implemented today.
The conference consists of 5 sessions, 4 online, and 1 hybrid event (public administration), with a networking dinner after for a selected group of participants. The sessions will take place in the week of October 26-30, 2020 with one session a day, starting at 4pm CET.
Sign-ups to the event series will open on Wednesday, 30.9.2020.
Each day will bring together builders and experts from various industries discussing the challenges and learnings from the implementation of blockchain technology in real use cases.

Financial Services 26.10 / 16:00 – 18:00
Blockchain was originally invented to disrupt parts of the financial system. Naturally, the broadest spectrum of applications today can be found in this area. Over the last 12 months, we have seen an exponential increase in new applications within the fascinating world of Decentralized Finance. From stablecoins and central banks issuing digital currencies to decentralized financial instruments. DeFi alone contains a variety of interesting topics to discuss, innovative payment solutions, lending, liquidity provider and yield farming are just a few of them!
We have invited a set of experts in this area to share their opinion and experiences in a 2 hour discussion.
IoT & Security 27.10 / 16:00 -18:00
From managing access control to IoT devices securely to ensuring tamper resistance of data to creating digital twins – there have been many applications that have been tested to combine IoT and blockchain technology. However, large scale adoption and deployments are still in progress.
What are the hurdles for adoption today and how can they be overcome? We have invited a group of experts to debate that very question.
Mobility 28.10 / 16:00 – 18:00
The mobility industry has been one of the early adopters of blockchain technology. Vehicle identity, data exchanges for autonomous vehicles, vehicle payments, traceability of spare parts – the application of blockchain in this industry are very broad and promising. However, what will be the killer use case that will lead to the first wave of large scale adoption?
That’s what our experts will debate in this event.
Supply Chain 29.10 / 16:00 – 18:00
Covid-19 like no other event before has highlighted strongly how fragmented and intransparent supply chains are. From automotive to food and beverage to industrial goods and chemicals – almost every industry vertical was confronted with unexpected interruptions of their supply chains during the worldwide lockdowns this year. This has highlighted once again how little corporates know about their supply chains. Since several years blockchain has been promoted as a solution that can contribute towards making supply chains more transparent.
We have invited a group of experts to discuss on the real potential of blockchain for the supply chain industry.
Public administration 30.10 / 16:00 – 18:00
Berlin has been coined as the “Blockchain capital of the world” many times. There is no doubt that the blockchain community is among the most in the world. But how can the city itself and the public administration capitalize on the potential of the technology and which are the most promising areas of application?
We have invited representatives from the administration and the industry to debate that very topic.
